Privacy Policy

Texas Campaign for the Environment (TCE) and Texas Campaign for the Environment Fund (TCE Fund) have implemented a policy to protect online privacy for our members, contributors and other visitors and users of this site and its resources.  Learn about our policy by reviewing answers to the following common questions. Our website’s Terms of Use are detailed below.

Why does TCE / TCE Fund ask for my information?

To participate in some activities, you might be asked to provide some personal information. This could be in connection with any one or combination of circumstances, including but not limited to:

  • sending personalized e-mail messages when participating in an online petition

  • distribution of publications and informational materials, by mail and/or electronically

  • sharing information from this site or from an e-mail alert with another person

  • allowing TCE/TCE Fund to contact you in the future

  • making a donation

What information does TCE / TCE Fund collect?

We do not collect personal information from visitors to this web site other than what you provide on a voluntary basis. Aggregate information about our website visitors, such as pages viewed, browsers used, and documents downloaded, is collected in our web server logs. Domain names or IP addresses of site visitors may also be collected but these addresses are not traceable to any individual. This aggregate information is used solely to help us improve our website.

Does TCE / TCE Fund use cookies?

Yes. A “cookie” is a tiny element of data that our site can send to your browser, which may then be stored on your computer’s hard drive. This makes it faster and easier for you to sign online petitions and take other actions on our website. If you are concerned about your privacy and the use of cookie technology on the TCE / TCE Fund website, you may set your web browser to notify you when you receive a cookie. You may also set your browser to refuse cookies that our website attempts to send you. Using these settings or declining to accept cookies from TCE / TCE Fund may limit the functionality we can provide when you visit this site.

How will TCE/TCE Fund use the information I provide?

Whenever we ask you to provide personal information via this website or in an e-mail, we will make reasonable efforts to make the purpose of that request clear. If you do not want this information to be collected or used by TCE / TCE Fund, you can simply choose not to provide the information or otherwise “opt out” of the action or request for information. Under certain circumstances, opting out may prevent your participation in activities for which personal information is needed, such as involvement in online actions, distribution of publications, action alerts, notices of volunteer opportunities, member benefits, community events, etc. We make every effort to ensure the secure collection and transmission of sensitive user information using industry accepted data collection and encryption methodologies. We do not sell or otherwise disclose such user information outside the organization.

How do I opt out or change my information?

Those who no longer wish to receive communications from the organization or who wish to change their information should contact us at:

How do I know my credit card information is secure?

TCE / TCE Fund uses secure server software (SSL) that is the industry standard and is among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name and address, so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet.

Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, your bank cannot hold you liable for more than $50.00 of fraudulent charges. In the event of an unauthorized charge to your credit card you must:

  • write to the creditor at the address given for “billing inquiries,” not the address for sending your payments, and include your name, address, account number and a description of the billing error,

  • send your letter so that it reaches the creditor within 60 days after the first bill containing the error was mailed to you.

What do I do if I have questions that aren’t answered here?

If you have questions about this privacy statement, the practices of this site or your dealings with this website, please contact TCE / TCE Fund via the contact information provided above.
