Beatriz (Beatz) Alvarado grew up in El Paso, TX and Ciudad Juárez, Chih. She's lived in Corpus Christi for 14 years and has grown to love and cherish its people and vibrant landscapes. The well-being of her chosen family and friends keeps her invested in organizing with residents who have stepped into their power to make the changes they want to see in the Coastal Bend. Beatriz is a writer by trade and got to know Corpus Christi as a news reporter for the Caller-Times Newspaper. She was reporting on education and immigration when an opportunity to play a more active role in resisting the Trump administration opened up at the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, or RAICES. She's been an organizer ever since, on and off the clock.
