Ale Cota

Coastal Bend Field Organizer

Alé Cota, a born and raised resident of Los Angeles county, has lived in Corpus Christi since 2020. For the past 8 years, they have focused on youth-and-community-based organizing around various issues such as healthcare, gender, racial, housing, and more recently environmental justice. After graduating from Carleton College Cum Laude in both Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Latin American Studies in 2022, Alé has fully immersed themselves into the vital work occurring in the coastal bend. While their primary passions involve gender, racial, and housing justice, they justify their commitment to environmental justice by recognizing that environmental justice is uniquely an intersectional issue in the coastal bend. There is no freedom from oppressive systems if the air we use to organize and fight back is killing us. Outside of TCE, Alé works in education programs centered around art & poetry as an instructor, mentor, and fellow artist-poet.
